All there is
The 2018 Artsource Industry Award winners present All there is, an exhibition of contemporary painting, found objects, installation and textiles. The works critique notions of space and language, reference historical handmade practices and highlight the significance of everyday experiences and the seemingly forgettable ephemera we accumulate and discard. The artists create an immersive space within the gallery to take the viewer on a journey, to allow the time to pause and consider their place in the contemporary world.
This is the second year Paper Mountain has teamed with Artsource, opening both its studios and exhibition space to the four Industry Award winners from the art faculties of Curtin University, Edith Cowan University (ECU), North Metropolitan (TAFE) and the University of Western Australia (UWA).
Eric C, Shona McGregor, Agnes Botman and Reegan Jackson were each awarded a three-month studio residency at Paper Mountain and professional membership with Artsource for a year. The opportunity seeks to nurture experimentation, to challenge artists’ practices, and to encourage collaboration and skill/resource sharing and to ensure those involved continue to flourish in an environment comparable with their tertiary education.
